Wiring Guidelines

Sensor cabling should be to the same specification as the SeaChange Network - Unscreened, Twisted pair Belden 8205.
Use twisted pair, unscreened cable for all sensor wiring (and input wiring - e.g. from contactor auxiliaries, flow switches etc).
Use this cable for the entire run from the SeaChange input terminals to the sensor. Recommended maximum cable length 100m.
Do not use single conductors, even for short runs in the panel; an electrical panel is often a noisy electrical environment.
If already installed, Screened twisted pair cables can sometimes be re-used for sensors without detriment provided the screen is continuous and properly earthed at one point only. Do not use screened cables on new installations. New installations should always use the correct Unscreened, Twisted pair cable. Sensors should be of the insulated type and not earthed.
There is no particular requirement to segregate from Mains wiring, but prudent installers will always avoid long, parallel runs.

Inputs

All inputs to SeaChange modules are Non-Isolated; this means that you must not connect inputs from different controllers together, or connect inputs to 0V or earth, or any other potential.
