Plant Room Sensors

Immersion Temperature Sensor IP65 rated.
SEN / PR / IMM / 001
Measures the temperature of liquids in pipework and vessels.
Direct mounting into a brass or stainless steel pocket (separately available as an accessory).
Enclosure

Mounting

If the sensor is to be mounted outside, it is recommended that the unit be mounted with the cable entry at the bottom. In addition, if the cable is fed from above the sensor we also recommend that a rain loop is placed in the cable before entry into the sensor.
Remove the front cover by twisting the lid and separating from the main body to make the electrical connections. Fix the sensor in to the pocket and secure with the grub screw provided with the pocket.
Feed the cable through the waterproof gland and terminate the cores at the terminal block. Leave some slack inside the unit, tighten the cable gland onto the cable to ensure watertightness. Replace the lid after the electrical connections have been made.

Clamp-On Temperature Sensor IP65

Includes steel band strap for clamping onto pipes (may require longer strap for larger vessels).

Mounting

If the sensor is to be mounted outside, it is recommended that the unit be mounted with the two cable entries at the sides. In addition, if the cables are fed from above the IP65 housing we also recommend that a rain loop is placed in the cable before entry into the sensor.
Remove the front cover by twisting the lid and separating from the main body. Using the base of the housing as a template mark the hole centres. Drill two pilot holes at 85mm centres in the surface on which the sensor is to be mounted, and fix the sensor with appropriate screws. The housing is designed to make it easy for an electric screwdriver to be used if desired.
Feed the cables through the waterproof glands and terminate the cores at the terminal blocks. Leaving some slack inside the units, tighten the cable glands onto the cables to ensure watertightness. Replace the lid after the electrical connections have been made.

 

Plant Room Sensors

Outside Air Temperature Sensor IP65

Measures outside air temperature.
Sensing element is contained within 10mm diameter brass cap, located externally in the shadow of the lid to avoid solar gain in most applications.

Mounting

Outside air sensors should always be situated in a sheltered position on a north facing wall.
Avoid mounting the sensor in direct sunlight. It is recommended that the unit be mounted with the cable entry at the bottom. In addition, if the cable is fed from above the sensor we also recommend that a rain loop is placed in the cable before entry into the sensor.

Duct Temperature Sensor

Measures air temperature in ducts.

Sensing element is contained within 150mm long brass probe with holes to allow air to flow directly over the element.

A neoprene gasket is supplied to ensure a good seal onto the duct.

Mounting

Drill two pilot holes at 85mm centres in the surface on which the sensor is to be mounted. Apply the gasket provided to the base of the housing. Align the holes in the probe so that they point into the airflow, not at right-angles to it. Press onto the side of the ductwork to form a seal between the sensor and the duct. Fix the sensor with appropriate screws. The housing is designed to make it easy for an electric screwdriver to be used if desired.
Feed the cable through the waterproof gland and terminate the cores at the terminal block. Leaving some slack inside the units, tighten the cable gland onto the cable to ensure watertightness. Replace the lid after the electrical connections have been made.

Mounting

Pockets can be installed in any system that is constructed from compatible materials whose operating pressures are within the specified ranges and fit into a 1/2" BSPT boss using a thread-seal compound.
In pipework systems, fit into an elbow such that the pocket runs down the centre of the pipe, against the direction of flow

Mounting
Drill a suitable hole in the mounting surface. Pass the flying lead and threaded part of the body through the hole. Secure with the fixing nut provided.

The following table shows temperature v resistance in Ohms for the tight tolerance (+/-0.2degC) negative temperature coefficient thermistor used in SeaChange products. Uses Thermistor Type 10k3A1.

A range of networked temperature and humidity sensor products are also available. Please contact SC Controls for details. Any thermistor temperature sensor (using the 10k3A1 scaling) can be retrofitted to a networked application by the addition of the interface SEN / PR / INT / TMP / 001.
